The exposure to tariffs and the consequential impact to the group is so significant that IG Design is now planning to throw in the towel on its US operations (DG Americas) and to instead focus on its International division (DG International), which in FY24 generated US$300m of sales and US$32m of EBIT. DG Americas saw a 12% decline in revenue and was loss making. Approximately 60% of group revenue is derived from the US, with over half of DG Americas’ purchases sourced from China. However, there is a general reluctance among retailers to fully absorb the additional tariff costs, rendering the business unviable.
