Shares in IG Design have had superb relative strength against the market as a whole this year. Last month it raised £50m cash via a placing at virtually no discount (just 0.9%) to the prevailing price, which it used to complete the £56.5m acquisition of Impact Innovations Inc in the US but even despite that, the shares carried on storming ahead. The theory behind this is that the new investors know the company is doing better than expected, didn’t get what they wanted in the oversubscribed placing and have carried on accumulating the shares.Established in 1979, IG Design’s history has been in the production of paper based gift packaging products such as wrapping paper, crackers, greeting cards and gift tags. ...
