The shares spiked higher after OTB acquired Sunshine.co.uk, an online travel agent, for £12m. The deal adds 200,000 customers to the 1.2m customers currently travelling with On the Beach and is eps enhancing from day one.Separately, H1 results show sales up 7% to £38.1m, adjusted pretax profit up 28% to £12.2m and eps up 27% to 7.5p. The statement reiterated that there is a very strong H2 in sight.UK revenue after marketing costs was up 17% to £19.4m and UK EBITDA was up 23% to £14m. This reflected greater marketing efficiency: marketing as a percentage of revenue fell to 41%, from 46%, and branded and free traffic increased to 57% from 55%.
