Despite terrorist acts in early 2016, which have knocked the stuffing out of Thomas Cook, OTB has released an excellent H1 with sales up 21% to £35.5m. Given that it had previously said it achieved 26% growth in the first four months, this would suggest a softer March and April. The evidence is that many consumers delayed bookings following the uncertainty caused by the terrorism threats and the Brexit referendum. All is not lost as OTB says the “late booking”’ market in particular will be stronger than usual this year and it is seeing a shift in bookings away from Turkey/Egypt to Western Europe.
