Volex - Significant beat on FY21 estimates

Volex has reported that trading in the year to end March was strong with sales of US$440m and EBIT at US$41m, a US$3m ‘beat.’ There was blistering growth from EVs, which grew 187% to US$52m driven by new vehicle launches whilst data centres and consumer electronics were helped by the trend to work from home. The only sector that didn’t benefit in FY21 was medical, with site access to install and maintain equipment restricted by COVID-19, though with lockdown measures being lifted, this has stabilised. Despite paying c.US$50m for DEKA, net debt is tiny at US$6.6m. A significant budget is being set aside to invest in EV and data products .
