Inspecs is finally turning the corner. H1 absorbed the worst of Trump’s tariff shockwaves, especially for buyers sourcing out of China. Vietnam has now struck a deal with Washington, chopping tariffs from 46 % to 20 %. Even at their peak, the hit to retail pricing was only 2-9 % and easily passed through to customers. Yes, tariffs still tie up a little working capital - gate fees must be paid on entry to the US - but Inspecs’ balance sheet can handle it. The strategic edge is clear: the US has almost no domestic supply of acetate frames, leaving opticians three choices: (1) import from high-tariff China; (2) source from low-cost, high-capacity Vietnam (where Inspecs has scaled up), or (3) watch shelves sit empty.
