Having just come off the phone with CEO Richard Peck and CFO Christopher Kay, it seems that the market’s reaction to the company’s latest statement may be overblown, primarily due to brokers’ estimates being set too high. Without those market forecasts, one might have appreciated the fact that despite a weak December and some cautious buying among certain optical key accounts (resulting in full-year sales remaining flat at £201m), Inspecs’ FY23 EBITDA increased by 16% from £15.4m to £18m. Margins also improved from 7.7% to 9%. After investing £1.7m in expanding its site in Vietnam, net debt decreased by £3.3m to £24.3m, resulting in a 1.2x net debt to EBITDA ratio.
