Last time we finished with talk of “glimpses of positivity” for UK smaller companies.  The FTSE-100 had stolen a march on the two domestically-centred indices in the last year, but since early September, the FTSE-100, FTSE-50, and FTSE-Small Cap indices have moved in lock-step. Why is this?   Despite the Budget being just ahead, and the persistent Brit-bashing coverage in the UK media, clearly some institutions are looking through to 2026, and see considerable value. It would obviously be helpful if there was greater confidence, and less carping, yet by the time confidence in the UK has self-evidently rebuilt, the market will be considerably higher.  Experience tells us to build a shopping list when confidence is at a low ebb. ...
