Hargreaves has issued a pre-close trading update ahead of results in September. This showed it firing on all cylinders. In particular, the mineral trading business continues its strong profit run despite softer power station volumes in the UK. The European operations, which are presently only trading speciality coals, are extending their operations into steam coal.At Monckton, coke production has also been consistent and prices strong. Maltby too has seen a more consistent production following new underground working practices introduced in April. The news everyone is waiting for is still the approval of its planning application for the Tower colliery project, which is believed to be imminent. The council are due to meet as we go ...
