Just two months after its last upgrade, Ramsdens has delivered another. Gold buying again proved the swing factor, with the average gold price year-to-date 50% higher and the amount of gold purchased up 50%. Pleasingly, Ramsdens also said it has seen stronger jewellery sales (+25% in H1) and pawnbroking at record levels (the loan book hit £13.5m in February). FX is the only weak spot; with European airfares soaring due to the Middle East crisis, the travel money arm is expected to be soft. It plans to open 8-12 new stores this year. Cavendish has upgraded EPS by 14% to 53.2p for this year. The share price reaction has been muted, leaving the stock trading at a PE of 7.3. Strong hold. ...
