I most recently tipped Sanderson (the interior furnishings group) as a Buy last August, spotting early signs of trading recovery from May onwards into June. The shares traded sideways for months until this month, when they finally exploded higher on confirmation that the year to January had indeed reasserted fresh momentum in the key US market. Headline sales are set to come in at around £99.5m, a shade below last year's level, but pretax profit was up to £5m from £4.4m. The swing factor has been licensing, where underlying revenues (adjusted to strip out IFRS 15 distortions) jumped 35%. Brand sales showed solid recovery overall, with the US up 9% on constant currency after an earlier wobble (though the UK remained subdued at -9%) ...
