Since my last update, Braemar has acquired Southport Maritime to enhance its coverage in the Americas (US$7.25m in cash upfront plus up to 1.9m shares to be issued on the third anniversary) and recruited a new tanker broking team in Spain. The two businesses together add a combined 28 tanker brokers who are specialists in crude, dirty products, clean products and complement Braemar's existing desks in London and Geneva. The businesses have bedded in quickly and are set to make “an immediate and strong contribution.” Despite that the shares are off their highs with rival Clarkson (CKN; 3305p) also seeing its share price soften on worries that global demand will roll over, which has taken the wind out of Braemar’s sails.
