Birmingham-based Pinewood may not be a familiar name to many investors because, for years, the software business was buried deep inside the UK motor dealership group Pendragon. It was only two years ago that the motor dealerships were sold in a single ‘job lot’ to the Oregon-based US motor giant Lithia and this separation marked the “big bang” moment for Pinewood, transforming it from a captive internal department into a standalone listed entity focused on selling software to the automotive retailing sector.  Pinewood now operates a Dealer Management System (DMS) that serves as the central operating platform for motor dealerships, integrating sales, finance, inventory, workshop operations, parts and customer management.
