Signs of life have returned to SDI’s share price - the buy-and-build company focused on scientific instrumentation - following the acquisition of Severn Thermal for £4.75m. Established in 2006, Severn designs manufactures and sells high and low-temperature systems including furnaces, environmental chambers and ovens used in materials testing and processing for niche scientific sectors such as nuclear, aerospace and semiconductors. Its systems can reach extreme temperatures from over 3,000°C to near absolute zero. The acquisition gives SDI access to the controlled environment market and a global, blue-chip customer base.
