Warpaint (W7L; 230p): A pair of perma-tanned entrepreneurs in their 60s, Sam Bazini and Eoin Macleod, each holding a 19.8% stake, seem unlikely candidates to head a cosmetics empire. Far from being “goddesses in white” that one imagines steering a beauty brand, they have nevertheless proven a safe pair of hands for Warpaint over the years and have run a tight ship. What began as a scrappy close-out operation - buying bankrupt stock and flipping it - has come a long way. The company had two owned colour cosmetic brands, W7 and Technic, when it floated in 2016 at 97p a share.
