JD Sports Fashion - Another 10% upgrade to forecasts

JD Sports went to a new high after its Christmas trading period recorded LFL sales growth +10.6% in the 5 weeks to 2 January in all the core Sports fascias (including Europe). In the light of the statement, Investec has upgraded FY16 and FY17 pretax profit forecasts by 10% to £148.5m and £160.4m, respectively and these are the fourth upgrades since the start of 2015. Corresponding eps are 58.1p and 63.5p.Separately, JD has flagged that there will be an exceptional write off this year of £12m. This relates to the capitalised cost of the core IT upgrade programme, which has been stopped as its strengthened IT team concluded it could achieve the same outcome at lower risk and cost by developing the existing systems. ...
