Watches of Switzerland - Trading strongly in the US

Behind-the-door negotiations between some Swiss watch makers and Donald Trump seem to have worked with the US slashing tariffs on goods from Switzerland from 39% to 15% - the same rate as EU exports to the US. This is just in time to replenish Christmas stock but even without that, WOSG has been performing strongly, noting that US consumers had been digesting price hikes on luxury watches without major disruption to volumes. Ahead of reporting on 4 December (as we go to press), WOSG said it expects to report sales of £845m, up 10% at constant currency, ahead of consensus expectations of £825m. Operating profit is expected in the range £66m- £68m, a margin of 7.9%, down 0.5%. These had all been made at the old 39% tariff rate. ...
