Supreme’s story is all about using an internally generated tidal wave of free cash to make acquisitions without increasing its share count. As FD Suzanne Smith notes, Supreme has spent £27m on acquisitions in the past 18 months, and a lot of work has been going on behind the scenes to integrate these businesses onto the Supreme platform: Typhoo Tea has relocated tea bag production to Manchester (an £800k investment last year and £250k this period) and could be returning £2m in profit within a year. Clearly Drinks could add £3-4m, and the 1001 Cleaning brand £0.7m. A further £3m investment has also gone into fitness products, set to launch next summer.
