The seasonally quieter H1 saw flattish sales (+2%) to £63.4m and adjusted operating profit (+4%) to £5.6m. The weak $ against the pound impacted translation and at constant currency profits would have been £0.7m or 18% better. Performance was driven by Systems where revenues grew by 16% to £35.6m and adjusted operating profit was 30% higher at £7.5m although this was boosted by a £1.9m contribution from Sky Software, a supplier of cloud-based student management systems in Australia/Asia Pacific, which was bought in March. Overall this together with new customer wins and the continued delivery of large projects such as the SALM programme pushed international sales to 44% of the division.
