With the headlong growth since IPO, AFX had not maxed out capital (the available collateral it has with banking counterparties), but would have done so in the foreseeable future if it wished to maintain/keep up with its growth rate. The company therefore had two choices/was at a crossroads: raise cash in order to maintain growth and capitalise on significant opportunities across the UK and Europe, or don’t raise cash and slow down growth to ensure the business does not reach a capital constraint.
