In an interesting move, Card Factory has acquired Johannesburg-based SA Greetings for £2.5m cash. SA is a wholesaler of greeting cards and gift packaging in South Africa. It also operates 24 'Cardies' retail stores, with four further stores operated by franchisees. The acquisition of SA Greetings will be used as a launchpad to access wholesale accounts by leveraging the existing printing, merchandising and warehousing facilities. In its last year, SA had £9.4m sales and realised an EBITDA of £0.6m and is immediately eps enhancing.
