Lookers has acquired Fourways, which provides a UK-wide vehicle rental service, using its own fleet of vehicles and its vehicle rental broking arm. Fourways manages in excess of 7,000 rentals per annum and in 2022 had total sales of £3.8m. The shares remain below the 102p that Constellation (which owns BCA, cinch, WeBuyAnyCar.com, MMH, etc.) paid for its blocking stake last year, limiting other players’ ability to gain control of Lookers. In fact, US franchised dealer group Lithia (LAD US) has just paid £300m for 50-site Jardine Motors, the ninth largest dealer in the UK, making Lookers’ £329m market capitalisation look a steal.
