Up until a few years ago, wiring accessories and portable power were Luceco’s main areas of business. Power sockets, light switches, cables, extension leads and the like, made in China and sold in the UK under a retailer’s private label or under its own brands of British General and Masterplug, comprised all its sales.The problem with these brands however was that Luceco had already too high a market share, which made it hard to grow although it managed it to some degree with the introduction of new lines such as USB sockets, decorative chrome and screwless sockets/switches and also by moving into new areas like fuse boards.If that was all it did, on SCSW I perhaps wouldn’t have been interested.
