I recently sat in on a group presentation for Big Technologies (BIG; 251p). Founder and CEO Sara Murray’s reputation had already preceded her as being one of those scary smart types, having previously founded Confused.com. Her latest business, BIG, is in an altogether different area and provides market leading electronic monitoring (EM) systems to criminal justice systems around the world.   EM involves utilising location technologies to put low level offenders under house arrest and is used as a way of coping with the expense of keeping prisoners behind bars by letting pre-trial detainees and some offenders out early on the condition they wear a tag.
