There was a recent article penned by Warren Buffet in the Wall Street Journal about how Wall Street’s obsession with short-term results hinders corporate performance. It basically said that companies frequently hold back on technology spending, hiring, and research and development in order to meet short term expectations.This short termism amongst UK investors is obvious and when Footasylum reported maiden results, which came in ahead but said it was increasing short term investment, effectively pushing its forecasts out one year, it took a hiding.
