The steep decline in the small cap index since it touched a high at the end of 2021 has produced a sequence of new issues that failed to take off. In some cases, there is nothing wrong with the companies being floated. For instance, I covered Ashtead Technology (AT.; 672p), which opened up at a small discount to its IPO price but has since gone on  to quadruple. Another where there is absolutely nothing wrong is Microlise, which I covered in September ‘21 shortly after it listed but told readers to hold off at 181p and wait for a better Buy opportunity.
