Sharewatch : First to spot the value

At Sharewatch, we're renowned for our ability to spot significant market trends ahead of the pack. Back in 1996, long before it became fashionable, we saw that IT, software and IT recruitment consultancies were going to reap large rewards by fixing millennium bug problems. We recommended ten particularly attractive stocks, which all turned into strong performers. We told readers to sell in advance of the explosive run of Y2K growth playing out.

Again in 1999-2000, ahead of the market, Sharewatch spotted the massive implications that the internet would have on businesses. Tucked away from mainstream view, we found some fantastic internet opportunities.

For instance, Sharewatch first tipped internet security stock Zergo (now Baltimore) in 1998 when it was a mere 25p. We recommended part sale of shares at £12.60 in March 2000, after one time making over £13.70. One Sharewatch reader claims to have made £2m from his Baltimore investment alone (quoted in Shares magazine).

Other trends where Sharewatch has been in on ground level include our preference for companies that are valued by their intellectual property assets. Recently, we've also been among the first to recommend shares in firms involved in long-term social outsourcing with winners including Mears, Synergy Healthcare, Connaught and Erinaceous.

A list of our recent recommendations and a brief reason as to why we featured them is available below. But remember, the value of our recommendations comes not from the company name but the detailed reason for recommending them. We have put three years of research online (and are in the process of putting earlier research online also) which we've indexed so you can quickly find the best information on the web. What have we got in our archive? Take a look by putting a company name into the search or download a sample issue. But remember, you need to be a subscriber to access the full article.
